I just watched http://www.ted.com/talks/blaise_aguera.html in a bid to get my latest Ted fix, and am very excited by the potential that this technology represents, especially when combined with crowdsourcing.
What if people start offering their phones anonymously for specific requests?
What if you could visualise the swarm of mobiles available at any given time, at any given point in the world and request access?
There was a comment at the end of the talk about the power of being able to shop without being present. Whilst this is one application, the power to be able to get news from the location is even more incredible.
A million eyes connected, with immediated (a term I recently heard from Gabriel Shalom) communication, creates the opportunity for unbiased and interactive footage by virtue of different viewpoints.
Will we watch the news on maps in the future, and track sideways and backwards in time, better connected to the global and historical context in which events occur?
The ramifications are world changing.
